The Air Force Reserve Celebrates 69th Birthday

Today the Air Force Reserve celebrates its 69th birthday. Since President Harry S. Truman first called for the formation of the Air Force Reserve on April 14th 1948, it has been a critical part of our nation’s defense. Its mission is to provide combat ready forces to Fly, Fight and Win. The Air Force Reserve currently performs approximately 20 percent of the work of the Air Force including: traditional flying missions, Personal Recovery, Modular Aerial Fire Fighting and Modular Weather Reconnaissance.
